Church Ministries

WORSHIP

At Christ Gospel Church, we are blessed to worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24). Worship and prayer services are energetic times of joy and celebration. A visitor to our church will hear congregants praying in tongues for the edification of their souls (1 Corinthians 14:4), as well as observe congregants shouting, singing, dancing, clapping, raising their hands, weeping, and yielding to the Holy Ghost as he works through their mortal bodies to give Jesus due praise and gratitude. It is a great blessing to have the Holy Ghost to help us pray, for as the Bible says, “we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26).

For someone unfamiliar with the movement of the Holy Ghost, Christ Gospel Church services can be surprising, but we encourage all members and visitors to maintain reverence for God’s Spirit by keeping their minds and eyes focused on Jesus and offering Him whatever love and praise they can.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

Our children’s department includes children ages 0-12

  • Nursery
    • Nursery is provided during the Word portion of regularly scheduled services, for ages 0-3. Older children are encouraged to hear the preaching of God’s Word and learn to participate in worship with their parents or guardians
  • Sunday School
    • Sunday School classes for ages 0-12 (nursery age included). In these classes, children learn: how to apply God’s Word, different studies of the Bible and God’s principles, reverence for God’s house, Bible crafts, and foster loving relationships with their teachers and peers as they all work together within Christ’s Body

YOUTH GROUP

Our Youth Department includes ages 12-18

  • Sunday School
    • Sunday School is available for youth wanting to learn more about Jesus!
  • Bible Quiz
    • Bible Quiz is an intensive, popular program among Christ Gospel Churches for youth ages 12-18 and is designed to help our young people learn the Bible, memorize scriptures, and about God’s principles while having a great experience in fellowship, Bible study, and teamwork
    • Dayton’s team competes in Bible quiz matches with other Christ Gospel Churches regionally. National Bible Quiz Finals takes place during the Youth Convention in July in Jeffersonville, IN
  • Youth Events
    • Youth Events are held at and around Dayton, VA and with neighboring churches. These include: fundraising activities, seasonal outings, Christmas play productions, and Youth Rallies with other church youth groups
  • Youth Convention
    • Youth Convention is held in Jeffersonville, IN every July for youth ages 12-25. It is a great time of fellowship with peers who share the same desire to grow spiritually and have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ

ADULTS

Our Adult Department includes adults over the age of 18

  • Sunday School
    • Sunday School offers two classes for our adults: Adult 1 class for those 40 and over, and Adult 2 class for those 18-40. Even the adults get to have fun and dive into the Bible on Sunday mornings!
  • Young Adults
    • Our Young Adult group has Bible studies, outings, seasonal parties, and activities between other churches
    • Ages 18-40

MISSIONS

Our Missions Team is active in raising funds throughout the year to support Christ Gospel Missions around the world
